Which Modern Safety and Tech Features are Included?

The Flex is available in 3 different trim levels. The base model, called the "SE," includes basic amenities. It rides comfortably on 17-inch wheels and features standard cloth seating. Inside, you'll also find a USB audio system and a driver's seat that's power-adjusted. Blind spot mirrors and rear parking sensors are also included.

Next in line is the "SEL." This mid-range option boasts a number of useful features. It has a push-button start, proximity key FOB, dual-zone climate control, heated seats and much more. The most prominent feature you'll notice is the SYNC 3 infotainment center. A responsive touchscreen display provides easy access to your media, navigational information, and more. It's even equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity. Also available on the SEL build is an optional convenience package that includes more safety monitoring and upgraded audio components.

The highest trim level, the "Limited," has it all. It includes all of the great features of the SEL plus 19-inch wheels, HID headlights, and more. Optional upgrades include powered third-row seats, a blacked-out appearance package, and active safety technology. On all Ford Flexes, there's enough room to seat 7 passengers. These seats can be folded down to maximize cargo room in the back to 83.2 cubic feet.

A Strong Performer In the City

2019 Ford Flex Front GrilleThere are two powertrain options for the Ford Flex. On the SE and SEL trim levels, you're getting a 3.5-Liter V6 engine. This strong engine can deliver up to 287 horsepower and 254 pound-foot of torque. To power the Limited models, Ford uses a turbocharged 3.5 Liter EcoBoost engine. It delivers an impressive 365 horsepower and 350 pound-foot of torque.

Both engines offer an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 16 MPG city and 23 MPG highway. In terms of towing capabilities, the 2019 Ford Flex can handle upwards of 2,000 pounds. Six-speed automatic transmission is used on both options. However, if you'd like more control on the road, you can opt to go with all-wheel drive on SEL and Limited configurations.

Safety Comes Standard on the 2019 Flex

2019 Ford Flex NavigationMany safety features are available on the 2019 Ford Flex. Several come standard on SEL and Limited trim levels while others can be added as a package. Active sensing technology is used to monitor your surroundings as you drive. Blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alerts will let you know when other vehicles approach areas that are hard to see.

Adaptive cruise control is also available on Limited builds. It keeps tracks of the traffic around you so that transmission power and braking can be adapted accordingly. Pre-collision warnings are also available. This technology will alert you if the vehicle senses that a collision is imminent. If you do not react in time, it will automatically apply the brakes to keep you safe.

Additional features can be added to help you stay stable on variable road conditions. An intelligent all-wheel drive system is optional for SEL and Limited trims. This system uses sensors to improve traction. It will adjust torque between the front and rear wheels based on the conditions you're driving in. If you plan on towing cargo, Trailer Sway Control and Roll Stability Control are also available.
