Medical masks for COVID safety

With its commitment to customer satisfaction, Ford wants to help people stay as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's latest safety initiative, called "Finish Strong," will provide 30,000 masks to a deserving organization. Ford is asking for the public's recommendations for organizations that would benefit from receiving the COVID-19 safety masks scheduled for distribution on March 13, 2021.

What Is "Finish Strong?"

Finish Strong is the latest initiative in Ford's quest to help the public stay safe during the pandemic. Since the COVID-19 emergency began, a team of Ford engineers has produced personal protective equipment (PPE) for Americans to keep people healthy and save lives. The team, which has earned honors for its work, has devised a plastic face shield to protect frontline workers and emergency medical personnel battling the pandemic.

Ford has also launched several related initiatives to reduce disease transmission. Recently, the legendary American automaker collaborated with renowned film director Peter Berg to create a film called "Finish Strong" that encouraged Americans to adopt COVID-safe behaviors over the winter months and holiday season, when the virus had an incredibly high risk of spreading. While Ford broadcast its message to the American public, the company asked its dealers, employees, motorsports partners, and others to join in on the initiative. Although Ford has taken an interest in helping Americans stay healthy in general over the past year, it has had a particular interest in reaching underserved communities with life-saving solutions, campaigns, and compelling messaging.

A History of Humanitarian Work

Although Ford has stepped up to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic, this past year was not the first time the company lent a helping hand to assist its country during times of crisis. Ford also created a program called Iron Lungs during the Polio epidemic, which provided children suffering from polio with a breathing apparatus called an Iron Lung to breathe more easily. The Iron Lungs, made of plexiglass and rubber, were also created by a team of Ford engineers.

During World War II, Ford helped establish an "Arsenal of Democracy" by working with key partners to provide military equipment, including tanks, trucks, planes, and vehicles, to Great Britain allies. The term "Arsenal of Democracy" was recognized by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and it put Detroit, MI, on the map as a strategic military manufacturing center.

Building on its tradition of helping Americans, Ford hopes that its COVID-19 campaigns will reignite the country's sense of patriotism and shared sense of humanity.
