When heat can't escape your engine's compartment or the cooling system isn't working properly to cool the air down in there, your engine can overheat. This issue is caused by several various factors, all of which can be diagnosed by Grand Prairie Ford. Some of the areas that we'll look at include:
The cooling system in your vehicle is made up of many different parts. These parts work together to regulate temperature, and any damage or malfunction can throw everything off. We'll inspect your cooling system for coolant leaks, which is a widespread cause of overheating.
Your water pump requires proper pressure for coolant to move through the hoses that it needs to. When you breach this pressure by way of a hole, corrosion, or cracks, your engine will overheat.
A radiator in your engine is responsible for cooling temperatures during operation. Some fans work within your radiator to accomplish this process. We've seen plenty of malfunctioning fans and radiator parts that need to be replaced to function appropriately for the cooling system.
Your internal thermostat functions as a valve between your cooling system and your engine. When coolant can flow freely between these areas, your temperature will be maintained. If you have a valve damaged or stuck in one position, your engine won't cool properly.
Once your engine turns over and starts running continuously, various belts will continue running until your engine turns off. These belts see a lot of wear and tear over the years, and as mileage accumulates, they can even slip off while running. When this occurs, your engine can get too hot. Hoses also need to function appropriately for coolant, water, and other products to make their way where they need to be.
Let us here at Grand Prairie Ford know if you need assistance with an engine that is overheating. Our service department staff is made up of some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the area. We can get your vehicle with an overheating engine fixed and back on the road in no time at all.
