What's New For the 2020 Ford Escape?

The Escape, Ford's popular compact crossover SUV, is completely redesigned to usher in the nameplate's fourth production cycle for the 2020 model year. This model earns high marks for its adept handling, a substantial number of driver-assistance features, and improved power and acceleration over previous iterations.

2020 Ford Escape Interior

2020 Escape has Varied Trim Levels & Countless Features

The 2020 Ford Escape is split into four trims: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. The vehicle has two rows of cloth-covered seats to accommodate up to five people. Front seating consists of a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way manually adjustable passenger seat, and the rear has a sliding bench-style seat with 60/40 split-folding ability to expand cargo volume when needed. At the SE trim level, Ford adds front-seat heating, with 10-way power adjustability on the driver's seat.

The SEL trim level is enhanced with features such as ActiveX seating material, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and a driver-side memory system. Exclusive to the Titanium are leather seat trim and 6-way power adjustability on the front passenger seat. A 4.2-inch instrument cluster, proximity key entry, FordPass Connect (for accessing features such as remote lock/unlock, vehicle locating, and remote start/stop), six-speaker audio, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio are just a few of the 2020 Escape's comfort and convenience amenities. Electronic automatic temperature control, a smart key system with push-button engine start, and SYNC 3 infotainment integration enhance the Escape at the SE trim level. Remote engine start and trial subscriptions to SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link are added on the SEL. And only the Titanium has dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, a garage-door opener, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

What's Under the Hood of the 2020 Ford Escape?

2020 Ford EscapePowering the S, SE, and SEL trims is a 180-horsepower 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline 3-cylinder (I3) engine. Accompanied by an auto start-stop system, this engine is pinned to an eight-speed automatic transmission. There's the choice to get a larger and more powerful 250-horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBoost I4 instead. Only the Titanium has a 198-horsepower 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I4 engine, which anchors a hybrid drivetrain that includes a continuously variable transmission.

2020 Escape Safety Technologies

2020 Ford EscapeIncluded on all Ford Escape models is the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, which bundles together features such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a lane-keep system, and a blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. Other standard safety and security features include seven airbags, a seatbelt reminder for both rows of seats, curve control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, AdvanceTrac electronic stability control with roll stability control, an SOS post-crash alert system, auto high beams, a rearview camera, torque vectoring control, and a theft-deterrent system. Options or added on upper-level trims are features such as adaptive cruise control, stop-and-go technology, lane centering, active park assist, and a reverse sensing system.
