What's New for the 2019 Ford Escape?

The 2019 Ford Escape is a crossover vehicle that successfully combines a sleek look with high performance. With this new edition, you'll find a few cosmetic changes, like a higher roof line-but it's retained much of its styling from previous years. This, coupled with a few essential technology upgrades, puts the 2019 Ford Escape near the top of the crossover class.

The Ford Escape is available in four different trim levels for 2019: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. Standard features for the S trim include cloth seats, six-speaker audio (including CD player and AM/FM radio), the Ford Sync infotainment system with a 4.2-inch screen, 17-inch standard wheels (alloy wheels optional), telescoping steering wheel, and automatic headlights.

At the SE level, all previous features come standard and are expanded to include push button ignition, keyless entry, dual zone climate control, steering wheel paddle shifters, a power-adjustable driver's seat, satellite radio, the Sync 3 infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, heated front seats, and a center armrest in the rear.

When upgrading to the SEL trim, you'll find even more premium features. These include power-adjustable side mirrors, a power-operated tailgate, leather steering wheel and gear stick, and leather seating. The Sport Appearance package is an optional add-on for the SEL trim, and its features include a sunroof and 18-inch wheels.

The top-of-the-line Titanium trim includes all the features found with the SEL, as well as a few others. These additional features include a 12-speaker audio with HD radio, built-in navigation, power-adjustable front passenger seat, auto-dim rear view mirror, and both 12-volt as well as 110-volt power outlets.

What's Under the Hood?

2019 Ford EscapeA 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard at the S trim level. It produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. It's coupled with automatic transmission (six-speed) and front-wheel drive. This standard engine is upgraded for the SE and SEL trims. With them, you'll find a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine capable of 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.

With the Titanium trim, you'll get a turbocharged 2-liter, four-cylinder engine. Its horsepower jumps up to an impressive 245, and the torque makes a similar leap to 275 lb-ft. This top-of-the-line motor can accelerate to 60 mph in less than ten seconds. All-wheel drive is an optional add on for both the 2.5-liter engine and the turbocharged 2-liter engine.

Vehicle Safety Features

2019 Ford EscapeStandard safety features for all trim levels include the MyKey parental safety system, child safety seat latches, and airbags. At the higher trim levels, additional safety features include adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, automatic emergency brakes, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and active lane control. The optional tow package also comes with enhanced headlights and stabilizing sway control.
