Recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, caused extensive and catastrophic damage, leaving many people homeless and numerous businesses destroyed. Despite the significant losses, support from the auto industry—including classic American automaker Ford Motors—has arrived for the community. Ford has unveiled initiatives to assist impacted community members and first responders as they begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
How is Ford Helping?
Ford dealerships across 13 states in the Western US and Ford Philanthropy have contributed to the California Community Foundation's Wildlife Recovery Fund. They donated $465,000 to help local organizations in California secure the necessary supplies and resources to aid community members. The funds raised by Ford and its philanthropic arm also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Besides aiding the broader LA community, Ford assists displaced residents by offering discounted prices on Ford vehicles and deferred payment plans. Ford further provides free electric chargers for customers purchasing an electric vehicle, and its employees are allowed paid time off to participate in wildfire recovery efforts.
What Organizations Does Ford Support?
Ford's donations are reaching several organizations active in the LA area. The American Red Cross, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon are just a few of the groups benefiting from Ford's support. Collectively, these organizations continue to offer essential assistance to LA wildfire victims as they recover and rebuild. The Red Cross still provides shelter and critical supplies to displaced people, while Team Rubicon delivers longer-term resources as victims await home repair or reconstruction. Feeding America and World Central Kitchen are focused on providing meals and food to the affected community.
Special Electric Vehicle Support
If you are in the FEMA disaster area, owners of Ford and Lincoln vehicles are eligible for special Ford incentives. This includes reimbursement for all-electric vehicles charged at a charging station from January 7 - 31. Local Ford dealerships can offer free charging adapters to customers who have lost their homes or are using an electric vehicle for disaster relief. Ford is also offering free replacements for customers whose home charging stations were lost in the wildfires.
