With numerous commercial vehicles covering extensive distances daily on North American roads, the electrification of these fleets holds immense potential for the planet's well-being. A major hindrance preventing many businesses from embracing electrification has been the insufficient infrastructure. Ford Pro has recently collaborated with Xcel Energy to significantly expand the availability of charging stations, addressing a critical need. Moreover, businesses in specific states stand to gain from potential fee offsets associated with upgrading their fleets.
Xcel Energy's Electric Vehicle Supply Infrastructure plan explicitly outlines the development of 30,000 new chargers by 2030, directly tackling concerns about charging station accessibility. While many fleet operators plan to charge their electric vehicles at their dedicated stations, the installation costs often pose a barrier. Consequently, the new plan includes reimbursement for charger installation costs and post-installation support for businesses, currently applicable in Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Additional states, such as Texas, South Dakota, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Michigan, may be incorporated into the program in the near future. Ford Pro will also provide access to Ford Pro Telematics and Ford Pro Intelligence, enhancing fleet management capabilities.
