If you’ve been waiting for a green version of Ford’s most popular pickup, you’ll be happy to learn that the automaker has just announced their brand-new F-150 Hybrid.

The green pickup was announced by Ford CEO Mark Fields during an interview with NPR. He stated that the new F-150 will be a “rear-wheel drive hybrid truck” that will be a forerunner to the many hybrid and electric cars that Ford has in the pipeline. Fields also noted that the automaker’s concentration on green cars is due not only to continued government regulations, but also to more demand from customers who want power, convenience and efficiency.

The F-150 Hybrid should debut sometime in 2020, which is a big year for automaker’s who are looking to debut some of their most efficient and technologically advanced autos. This new version of the bestselling pickup should go over very well with fans and critics alike who will welcome even more fuel economy from the beloved hauler.

The newest generation of the Ford F-150 has been the most revolutionary yet, getting an all-aluminum body frame that has in itself increased the truck’s efficiency. The new hybrid edition should build on top of that, making the F-150 Hybrid a segment leader in fuel economy.

There are no further specifics about the F-150 Hybrid available at the moment, but stay tuned to our blog to discover all the exciting details as they are released.
