The iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans may have just passed, but Ford is already on the ball with getting its 2016 contender in shape. Next year is the 50th anniversary of Ford’s incredible Le Mans triumph, when Henry Ford II attended and Ford GTs won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Ford is commemorating that win by entering with an all-new GT that’s more innovative than ever.
Two Ford teams will run in the 2016 Le Mans race and both teams will be operated by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS). The all-new GT uses lightweight carbon fiber, EcoBoost engine technology, and an outstanding aerodynamic design that minimizes drag and improves stability by optimizing downforce.
The new 2016 Ford GT racecar will arrive next year, along with a production version that will be available for purchase to the public. We can’t wait to see what the all-new GT can do on the track and also look forward to the introduction of future racecars from Ford Performance, who will be putting out more than 12 new performance vehicles over the next five years according to a press release from Ford.
