This is the first time ever that the Ford F-150 has received the Yankee Cup, a technology award that recognizes vehicles with advanced features designed to enhance safety, performance and cost efficiency for customers. As the most patented truck in Ford's history, the all-new 2015 F-150 is obviously jam-packed with innovative features, so it was an easy pick for the jury, which was composed of members from MIT's engineering faculty and the New England Motor Press Association.

"When reviewing all the entries for the Yankee Cup, we couldn't help but notice the F-150 is loaded with innovation. We all know this vehicle is Built Ford Tough, but now it is both tough and smart - helping to redefine the light-duty pickup for the next generation," said Craig Fitzgerald, New England Motor Press Association president.

Just a few of the 2015 Ford F-150's most innovative features and technologies include:

  • Segment first 360-degree camera view increases safety and ease of maneuverability, while having 400-watt power outlets in the cabin offers incredible convenience.

  • The 2015 F-150's tailgate step has been fully reengineered, so it is practically invisible when it's not being used and it's fully integrated into the tailgate. Additionally, Ford's new remote tailgate release is the first feature in the pickup truck segment that allows drivers to lower the tailgate automatically with the simple push of a button on the key fob.

  • A new military-grade aluminum bed and body offer massive strength and are attached to an all-new steel frame.

  • Available new cargo ramps, also a segment-first, easily stow in the sides of F-150's new BoxLink cargo management system, which comes with lockable tie-down cleats. The cargo ramps can be attached to the tailgate to allow for easy loading of large objects like motorcycles or lawn mowers.
