2021 Ford F-150 vs 2021 Chevrolet Silverado

The Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado have long been competitors in their class. Both have been recently refreshed, with additional features and enhanced performance capabilities. Here's what you need to compare to choose the best truck for your needs.

Specs at a Glance

Interior Features

The interior of the 2021 Ford F-150 features premium materials with an abundance of storage cubbies. An ample amount of storage space is provided in the front and back, making it a family-friendly vehicle. The cabin includes an 8-inch infotainment display and allows drivers to upgrade to a 12-inch display screen. Additional features that come standard include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. SiriusXM radio, navigation, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system are optional features.

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado cabin is not as refined, and the ride is harsh, according to many critics. It has standard basic materials and features, giving a less upscale look than what is found in the F-150. The Silverado's higher trims offer ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, and a head-up display for those who want a few extra bells and whistles.

Performance

Under the hood of the 2021 Ford F-150, drivers will find a 290-hp 3.3-liter V-6 engine. Six other engine options are available, including a 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8, a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 engine with 325 horsepower, and a 3.0-liter diesel V-6 engine. The vehicle has a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds with a payload capacity of 1,840 to 3,250 pounds.

There are also many engines to choose from on the 2021 Silverado, including a standard V6 engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder, and two V8 engines. Drivers can also upgrade to a Duramax diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The truck has a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds with a payload range of 1,870 to 2,280 pounds.

Exterior Features

The exterior of the 2021 Ford F-150 has been restyled from front to back. It keeps its rugged look, adding an oversized grille that pairs well with the large headlamps. The large windows contribute to excellent visibility in the cabin. The tailgate also features the name of the model stamped on the back.

The Chevrolet Silverado was redesigned for 2019, so the 2021 is similar to it. The windows are slightly smaller than the F-150, and the rear of the vehicle doesn't include any upscale or modern details that make it stand out compared to other models in its class. Chrome accents are present on the body, which adds a classy and upscale look, while the expansive grille gives the front end an aggressive look.
