The Ford Explorer has been a go-to choice for three-row SUVs for years, and with a few enhancements for the 2025 model year, it's even better. Both inside and out, the Explorer has been refreshed to stay competitive. For 2025, the Explorer features updated styling at the front and rear. The cabin has also been refreshed and now features a Google-based infotainment system. Certain trims also come equipped with BlueCruise.
2025 Explorer Trims & Features
The 2025 Ford Explorer comes in four distinct trims.
The base model, the Active, is packed with features like tri-zone climate control, heated front seats with multi-way adjustments, keyless entry, push-button ignition, and second-row captain's chairs, seating up to seven. Its tech offerings include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google voice commands and navigation, a digital gauge cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. The Active trim rides on 18-inch wheels and includes a power liftgate and LED lighting. An available package adds a heated steering wheel, a remote engine start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seats.
The ST-Line trim offers a sportier look and more interior features. Its exterior includes a black grille, black lower body trim, and darkened headlights & darkened taillights. The ST-Line rolls on 20-inch wheels and has black synthetic leather seats with red stitching inside. It also adds more safety technologies and comes with a premium B&O 10-speaker sound system.
The ST trim features 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.
The Platinum trim comes with a dual-pane sunroof, leather seating, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

What's the Horsepower of the 2025 Explorer?
The Explorer's standard engine is a 2.3L four-cylinder that generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
A 3.0L turbocharged V6, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, powers the ST and is also an option for the Platinum trim.
What Safety Features Does the 2025 Explorer Have?
Standard safety features include rear parking sensors, forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intersection collision avoidance, and evasive steering assistance.
