What's New For The 2020 Ford F-150?

With such a long history of success, the F-150 large pickup receives upgrades and styling changes at just the right time. For 2020, a Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard across the trim lineup. The lower trims now come with available appearance packages, and the driver aid suite is now available as part of a group package on most trims. These safety aids are also standard on the higher trims. This generation F-150 was introduced in 2015, and the overall body contours, front and rear styling and interior configurations have remained the same over the past four years.

What are the Available Trims and Features for 2020?

The lower trims are designated as XL, XLT, and Lariat. The uplevel trims are the King Ranch, Limited, and Platinum. All trims can be purchased with a regular, extended or crew cab. Three bed lengths are available, but not all of them are offered in combination with each cab style. The XL comes with a trailer sway control system, vinyl flooring, and a four-speaker stereo. An options package is available that adds on power accessories, hands-free connectivity, and a USB port. The XLT adds alloy wheels, chrome trim, and an 8-inch screen display. The Lariat boasts power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone climate control, and leather upholstery.

The uplevel trims come with upgraded infotainment systems, interior trim accents, and premium audio systems. The off-road-oriented Raptor version is equipped similarly to the XLT but offers a reinforced frame, a modified long-travel suspension, and distinctive interior trim. It also comes with Fox shocks, flared fenders, and upgraded off-road tires.

2020 Ford F-150 Powertrain Options

The base engine is a 3.3L V6 rated at 290 horsepower. Transmission is a six-speed automatic. The optional turbocharged 2.7L engine delivers 325 horsepower, and the 5.0L V8 produces a total of 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. A 3.5L turbocharged V6 is also an option, and buyers have the choice of two styles, the more powerful one rated at 450 horsepower. There's also a turbocharged diesel V6, rated at 250 horsepower but which also delivers an impressive 440 lb-ft of torque. These uplevel engines are paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is optional. The off-road-oriented Raptor version is an all-wheel-drive only. Clearly designed to haul heavy loads, the 2020 Ford F-150 has soft suspension, precise steering, and perfectly spaced gear ratios.

Safety Features in the Forefront for 2020

The regular cab versions have dual front airbags, and the extended and crew cabs come with front and rear airbags. Antilock brakes, four-wheel ABS, and stability control are also standard across the trim lineup. Driver aids include lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. These and the rearview camera are grouped into several packages, and they are available on all but the base trim.
